Funny things my 4 year old says.......

Joshua has been saying some really cute things lately. He is so innocent about it, he is still at an age where he is oblivious that what he is saying might be funny, incorrect, or wrong.

Today he overheard Cody asking if he could go to Durhams when he got his homework done. So then Joshua says " I want to go to germs too, can I go with you bubba?" I then explain that it is "Durhams" and that is his Nana, and Papo's last name. That it is "Judy and Richard Durham". He proceeds to disagree, he says "No they are not germs, they are Nana & Papo" I told him everyone has a last name just like him, and that is theirs. He says "no I don't think so I think its Papo O-C" I left it at this for now...We'll be working on first and last names of all the Grandma & Grandpa's this next few days.

Another thing that Joshua has said that is stuck in my mind, I need to write these down each day, because some days it is so funny and by the next day I have forgotten what exactly he said! Anyways thanks to having 2 older brothers who have used the term "nuts" when referring to being hit in ones private area, I think that is where he came up with this scenario. A couple months ago, we were shopping at a furniture store that has 2 floors. We were in the lower level and the next thing I know Joshua has disappeared, he was beside me one second then the next he was gone. So I huffed it up stairs, being very pregnant I was pretty slow even though I was trying to hurry....when I found him I was upset and I grabbed his hand, got down on his eye level and said the first thing that came to my mind " you can not disappear like that, what if a bad guy tried to take you? I wouldn't see you you and be able to help you!" Joshua's response was " Oh don't worry, I will just kick him in the nuts, and then he will be like(Josh drops to the ground dramatizing the hurt bad guy) oh my nuts, my nuts, my nuts." "Then I will run away!" I had a very hard time not laughing at this. We have since talked that it's not ok to say nuts in that context. And that he is not a match for a adult, although he still thinks he's invincible! Boys are every challenging, and fulfilling at the same time.

Playing in the leaves

Joshua decided that he was a barber the other morning, it was quiet(not usually a good sign) I thought he was going to the restroom. However when he came out he had a new haircut. I asked him "Did you cut your hair?" I should have asked "why did you cut your hair?" His response was to tell me he went to sleep and when he woke up someone had cut his hair. I told him he wouldn't be in trouble as long as he told the truth. So then he looks down for a second and then looks me straight in the eyes and says" Ok I cut it" He wasn't in trouble like I'd promised however he has a very short chunk missing right in the middle of his forehead. So his hair will be very short after we get it cut again!

Just goofing off.

He decided to put on a superman cape and his fire fighter helmet,
this picture only begins to show how ornery he is some days.
Can you tell?!

It is amazing how much he loves his little sister. Its hard to believe it's the same little boy that was just being super fireman in the last photo!

  1. Kids are too funny! Dolan and I got a kick out of the "bad guy" story. It is amazing at what they can pick up. Every child seems to go through the hair cutting stage. Oh, what a blessing that there are the moments when they make you laugh and take your breath away as like in the picture of Joshua kissing his little sister! Precious!

  2. These are awesome photos, I laughed until I cried when I read the bad guy story, and got goosebumps when I saw the ones with Josh giving his baby sister a kiss.
